While Americans are divided on how President Trump should handle the Affordable Care Act known as ObamaCare, there are even more divided opinions on what, if any new changes will effect doctors and their medical organizations. While President Trump has long touted a “repeal and replacement” plan during his presidential campaign, there are many questions and issues that have risen as there are people who are effected by Obamacare in some way.
Doctors in particular seem to have the most varying opinions than most. Some doctors seemed to have learned to cope with the changes of ObamaCare and simply realized that there is nothing they can do but to adapt. While many others are calling for no replacement plan, but simply a repeal with the argument that the government should not be allowed to grand payment based on what non-medical government personnel deemed medically necessary, or even worthy of being a medical treatment.
For consumers, the opinions are even more varied. While some have stated that their premiums have actually dropped from 2016 into 2017, the vast majority of states have noted their premiums are rising. Most by more than 50%. As Medicaid plans expanded in most states in an attempt to bring down the cost of a typical healthcare plan, this bring on additional issues for doctors and medical organizations to deal with. Ultimately, whatever changes may come from a governmental standpoint regarding health insurance, costs and office management issues will continue to stay a topic of conversation.
